I fully agree with Sidepot's cash-game concern; let the cash-gamers have a fancy set too. And I don't even play cash games.
The ONLY reason a casino makes plain .25 chips is because the chips are actually worth .25. Why would they spend .45 cents making a chip that is a cheque for .25? We don't have that predicament.
Rearranging chips by complexity baffles me. Must be some kind of evolutionary holdover; or perhaps just a throwback to organizing favorite marbles in pre-school.
Frankly, I think a
would be perfect for a $1000. Why? Because yellow chips look SWEET with big blocks of heavily contrasting color (blue, navy, light blue, red, whateva). Does that follow a progression? no.
