No, that's not really my preference, and I agree that you have a vaild point. I think both can be done well, and you'll see from the lines we currently carry that we have a uniform edge spot configuration on all of our existing lines. Nonetheless, I'm trying to keep my preference out of this process as much as possible. The intent of this contest is to totally avoid a top down design approach. The reason we're going with a progression for the default color/edge spot set is that seemed to be the way the community was leaning. If you'd like to propose a uniform edge spot set, we could certainly entertain that as well. Perhaps we could have two default sets, one progression and one not. I'd be interested in hearing feedback from others to support or oppose the idea of a uniform set.
And remember that individual inlay design submitters are free to use their own spots (progression or not) as well.
