An illegal gambling ring involving poker tournaments across the greater Toronto area was busted this weekend when Toronto Police raided two local bars, The Peel Pub and Wave Sports Bar, arresting five people and seizing more than $12,000 as well as gambling equipment.
The two venues were busted after Toronto Police and Ontario's Illegal Gambling Unit launched an investigation into several bars in the area last week. The authorities were tipped off by gamblers involved in the illegal Texas Hold'em tournament ring who complained about the goings-on inside the host establishments.
[The bastards.]
Three Toronto residents and two Mississauga residents have been charged with keeping a common gaming house and permitting a common gaming house. The accused include Alexandra Jovanovski, 43; Faithe De Borst Morris, 27; Santina Terzo, 27; Sreten Vukadinovic, 26; and George Tzikolis, 50. |
