| Re: chip breakdown for small group Well, 1,000 chips is way more than you need for 10 people. But since when has this board been about NEED?!?
If you're going to label your chips then I suggest 2 overlapping sets for cash and tournament use. Even the blondest player can keep that straight....
One decision for your cash/NL set would be if you want 5˘ and 10˘ chips. Normally you'd just get 5˘ and 25˘ chips for a small cash game, but if you play 10˘/20˘ NL you might want to get dimes in addition to nickels. Otherwise you can get a bunch of nickels and use them for all the blinds up to 20˘.
For a tourney set you need to decide what starting stack you want to use. If you start with amounts like you'd see online -- T$1,000 or T$1,500 chips -- then you should get $5, $25, $100 and probably $500 denominations. If you want a big starting stack like T$10,000, you should bump up one denomination and get something like $25/100/500/1000s.
So here's what I might suggest as a generous set if you want to buy 1,000:
100 x 5˘
100 x 10˘
150 x 25˘
200 x $1
100 x $5 (used for both cash and tourney)
150 x $25
150 x $100
50 x $500
Tourney set assumes T$1,500 starting stack using $5/25/100s. |
