Stud is played spread limit, but spread limit is more like fixed limit than pot or no limit, since the spread limit stud is usually 1-5 (or 1-3), rather than fixed limits of 2/4 or 3/6. If you played it spread limit 1-200 it would be more like no limit, but a 1-5 spread limit will obviously not have the potential for the pots to get large quickly like they do in pot or no limit.

You can play omaha high if you like; play whatever games you are comfortable playing, or it won't be fun. As I said earlier, I played a mixed game without any high-low split games and all big bet games. I guess it would be called HODKM. Most people are not into Razz, Stud8 or Omaha8, so you are probably better off doing something like me or Spiff did by tailor making your mix game tourney to fit your needs.
The reason that Omaha high is not good no limit is because it is a drawing game, unlike texas holdem. Whenever someone makes a pot sized bet, you are getting 2 to 1 to call. If you have a draw that warrants the call, you call. If it was played no limit, draws would go way down in value since players made hands would price out the draws. This would be bad since the game revolves around properly playing draws, since many draws are very close calls. Tough decisions make a game good, if every decisision is a piece of cake, it's boring.
Also, Omaha 8 is usually played limit, not pot limit. I have never seen a pot limit high low split game in a casino, it is only a recent thing to have pot limit and no limit Omaha 8 online. This is probably due to the fact that newer players think limit is inferior to big bet poker. But the problem is that proper strategy for a high low split game in pot or no limit format is to sit back and wait and wait and wait for the nuts. It is tedious work. But it can be very profitable if playing against fish who play to loosely.
