I know from earlier discussions that some of you would like to design the inlays first, and then the colors. As a design point of view, that is correct. But for fairness and manufacturer logistics, we must choose colors first.
WE CAN CHANGE THE COLORS LATER! In the last stage, the inlay finalists can offer tweaks on the color choices to better fit their designs. We'll run polls just to be sure everyone agrees.
Reasons why colors must come first:
- Manufacturer must approve the colors and edge spot combinations. This is to prevent anything resembling a real casino's colors and designs. They will NOT do this more than four times for this entire contest, so we have to limit this approval process to once at the beginning, and once for each of the final three inlay entrants.
- There must be a fair playing field for inlay designers. Some designers can do great mockups with chips and colors We want to finalize colors, then offer the mockup blanks for all inlay entrants to use. That leave JUST THE INLAY to differentiate among the designers at that stage. Since the inlay part of this contest (not the color choices) is what gets someone $750, we must make it as fair as possible.
- Don't give away your ideas! This one is for your own benefit! This is a contest remember, why give everyone esle your idea now?
