Mini tournaments at the Aussie Millions: Supersonic Satellites
I just got back from the Aussie Millions tournaments in Crown Casino in Melbourne (largest poker tournament outside of the US). It was lots of fun - and one really exciting game they dealt was single-table 'supersonic' tournament games. Buy-in was $100 + $20 and the winner takes it all (in the form of a $1000 ticket to some other event)
Basically the rules are you can not call or check. You can only raise, or fold. You start with 10 black chips ($1000) and blinds are $100 - $200. They double every 5 mins. The games are pretty much just a crapshoot - and they were a big hit! People were crowding around the tables to see the action, and the games usually only lasted about 15 mins. Almost every hand someone would drop out. Of course since you can't call al the action happened pre-flop and ends in someone stealing the blinds or at least one person going all-in.
We've since started playing this in our home game for small stakes, just for fun while we wait for all the players to arrive for the real game. Everyone loves it!
Has anyone else ever seen this?
