That's poker, lol...
I was countlessly rivered last night by my friends wife, at least 4 awesome hands that I lead VERY STRONG to the river only to have her catch
the card that she could hit to beat my hand.
Example:
Me:
A A UTG
My preflop raise 4x BB = $2.00
I get her and 2 other players to call.
Pot size: $8.00
Flop:
A 5 7
I check my trip Aces to see if anyone is feeling randy about their hand, and the bet checks around. OK nobody has much they want to reveal.
Turn:
8
I push pretty strong (10x BB = $5)
The other two players fold and she flat calls
Pot size: $18.00
River:
9
I put her all in, for another $12 and she quick calls, my heart skips a beat.
Pot size $42.00
She flips:
6 6
I lose, she doubles up.
She hits her OE straight on the river, and busts my trip A's by buying that river card.
How some people can make some calls, especially at the river card is beyond me, but I have to keep reminding myself that NLHE
is a SEVEN CARD GAME, and most people base their win/loss odds on the first 5 cards.
And some people (especially at low limit like we play $20 buy-in, 25/50 cent blinds) you just can't push them off of a hand they feel strongly about, unless you are willing to push all your chips in early enough to win a meager pot.
Oh well, I'll get her back tonight.
