Also, to qualify for low must your hand be better (i.e. lower) than 8,7,6,5,4?
If so, that means if the lowest hand was 7, 5, 4, 2s, 2h it wouldn't qualify & high hand scoops?
Just to make sure I have this right, the board _AND_ your hand must qualify for low?

the board doesn't need to qualify. the board needs to have 3 cards 8 or lower for there to be a possible low, since you MUST play 3 cards from the board.

and you are correct that a pair of twos is not a qualifying low hand. the worst possible low is indeed 87654
