He could try one of the national pub poker league games and see if anyone playing there has been in one www.nationalpubpokerleague.com (nothing to do with me). You could also try one of the internet sites that list home games, but I'm not sure those guys would appreciate being pointed out.
If there have been robberies, I'd think the cops would be the ones to ask.
