Will the string of made-for-TV jackasses never end?
First hand they show, idiot #1 has a straight flush... "I guess I can go sightseeing after this hand" as he CALLS all in. Die.
Then it's Jesus vs. Fat New York Slob. "AW WHAT DA HELL BIATCH ONLY PAID 225 2 GET IN DIS LET'S GO BABY". Die.
And it took longer than I thought for them to plug Harrington's books for the 100th time! They plugged them 15 seconds into the first circuit event they showed, why wait so long this time?

So the WSOP 2005 Main Event has begun airing? I do not get ESPN so I have to wait for someone to offer it up as a torrent, but I just checked on the weekend and was only able to get a couple NL events ($1000, $1500, and $2000 buy-ins).
I already know who won and all that since I was following along using Cardplayer's live updates, but I still like to watch the action from day 1 to the main event. |

That is what TV execs want to show. Too bad we cannot pick what goes on the air. The way the main event is now though, that's a sampling of what you get.

that idiot who had the strate flush (or shall we say caught the strate flush with only one card to win the hand, even though he was dominating after the flop)....was the most hesitant person in the world on that call...
for me, when some mo'fu**a slow rolls me when i'm playing, i get pretty darn heated....
i mean, the cat knew he had the hand won, what's the sense of throwing his body back, bowing his head and acting like its a tough call to make?
for me, not only is that bad ettiquette its also a smack in the face....
folks do that ish to me at the casino all the freakin time...
they make a large bet, i call, and then they'll tell me to show my hand first?
NO DIPCHIT, i called you, you have to show your hand first.....
or the ever famous,...."I CALL, what do you got?"....
my response: "Aces with a King kicker"...
slow roller:...."Hmmmm.....what does he have again dealer....only 1 pair.........oh, i have a pair of 2's....and a pair of 7's...."....
my response: "Whats up with the slow roll, dont be an ass...."
i know nothing of the harrington book, is it that good? is it a must read?
also, did you see the first hand with farha and that other kid, both flop boats....that's a 10k hand....YIPES.

Are you sure he was calling? I thought he was raising all in at the end there and I couldn't understand why she was pissed at his 'speach' in that scenario. If it was the other way around like you guys said, then it makes a LOT more sense to me now. I think that would be technically known as a 'douchebag' move. |

Zeidman had played on tv before, maybe a circuit event. He is not a total amateur and I didn't think what he did was really out of line. I thought Harman could have handled it better.
Daniel,
The Harrington books are fantastic. They taught me so much that I have applied to my own game, even though I do not play as conservatively as Harrington (though I play more conservatively than I used to because of the book). His strategies make sense and they work, and they are uncomplicated above all.

Opponent flopped top set he flopped low straight
Turn gave opponent full house and him an open ended straight flush draw (well, actually wasn't because she had QD) - his only out was 7D
River = 7D
She put him all in and he said something that amounted to "welll, I guess if I lose this hand I can go sightseeing". It was pretty ugly.
My theory is that the guy didn't know a straight flush beat four of a kind and was worried about quad 10's. Pretty stupid comment though.

yeah, I watched the whole 'sightseeing' part again (thanx tivo!) after Jennifer came back all pissed off, but didn't go back far enough at the time to see he was just calling. I was certain he was playing coy to get her to call his all-in and that's why I couldn't understand why she was so pissed about what he said.

he was calling on the river, as others have stated.
he said, at some point later, that "i can go sightseeing" is what he was thinking when he called on the turn. then, it sorta makes sense (he's still a huge douching implement) that he meant to say that ("man, jen, i was thinking i'd be going sightseeing at the end of this hand") when what he actually did was make the worst slowroll ever against a player that's super-well respected and liked, on ESPN, in what will be seen by 100 million people over the next 6 months.
i feel for him, b/c it looked to me like he was a fumbling idiot, and not some supervillain.
what i had no respect for was the other guy calling ferguson's big preflop all in with K9o. "you know what? i don't even care. i call!"
