You seem to be coming from a perspective of a chip collector. More than that, you seem to be concerned mostly with the value (and profit potential) of chips. That's fine with me, but I think there's room in the hobby for people with other priorities.

My issue is with the people in this community who don't distinguish the value between "fantasy" chips, which can be obtained easily, and real casino chips that are "limited". I can't understand how there are people here who over-value or compare the prices of fantasy chips to real casino chips or any other chips which may have "collector value".

If they're the chips on the table during your game, it doesn't really matter what they cost or what they're worth. They look and feel however they look and feel, irregardless of price or collector value.

Isn't it good for those in the chip community for the prices to be going up for the stuff with "collector value"???

Well, not really. It's good for collectors (at least, it's good for collectors who already own the chips), I guess. But for people who just want to buy some good chips for their home games, it seems, well, not so good.

I mean who wants something that everyone else can get for cheap and is readily available at anytime.

I do, if they're the chips I want to use for playing poker. Why should I pay more than I have to for a given quality of chip? I also like to be able to buy more chips to add to the set whenever I want.

When you make a good find, don't you want it to be worth a lot.

I guess I don't care what it's worth, unless I plan to sell them and need to make a profit on the transaction.

Part of this forum's purpose is to help educate those who are new to collecting ....

Fair enough. I'm just trying to say that not everybody who cares about poker chips is a mercenary collector.
