This post is just my personal opinion about the chip market and how I see it... anyway, I'm sure people will get pissed off, but this is my view on things and I'm not going to tiptoe around this subject just to be nice, so I welcome all haters...
Just to be clear, I aint knocking the fantasy chips and all the group buys at all. They're nice and very affordable which makes them great for weekly poker games, just to play with, or just because you like them.
My issue is with the people in this community who don't distinguish the value between "fantasy" chips, which can be obtained easily, and real casino chips that are "limited". I can't understand how there are people here who over-value or compare the prices of fantasy chips to real casino chips or any other chips which may have "collector value". I've seen so many and come across those who act like its a crime for chips to be sold at a profit. When you sell your chips, should it matter how much you paid for them??? I think not. If you made a good find, why not make $$$ from it. Of course its a different story if a seller is misrepresenting what he's selling or just plain trying to rip someone off.
Isn't it good for those in the chip community for the prices to be going up for the stuff with "collector value"??? I mean who wants something that everyone else can get for cheap and is readily available at anytime. When you make a good find, don't you want it to be worth a lot.
I know there are a lot of frustrated people out there who have the feel the same. Part of this forum's purpose is to help educate those who are new to collecting and I just think that there are some members who are ignorant and are very vocal that are hurting this hobby.I've noticed that there aren't as much "nice" and "rare" stuff out there as much as there used to be because the sellers know that they won't get full value and appreciation for their stuff.
I'm not saying what anything is worth or should be worth because what people pay is what dictates prices, I'm just saying I see a lot of people being mis-informed by people who are ignorant. Know the difference and value it as such. This is just how I see things. And if you don't agree, then F**k You, You, and You... hahaha...
