Clay chip comparisons?

If you were going to get a set of chips made with a custom inlay (please disregard price), which clay chip would you choose?
I got some sample sets (some haven't come in yet) and I have my opinions but was wondering what everyone else thought the advantages/disadvantages of each chip is.

My opinions:
Paulson- I know that you can't get one made totally custom but it is what I judge all the others from because I just love the texture, sound and weight of them.

ASM-
Texture- HH mold is great. Roman mold ok. Circle/square too slick.
Sound- Not bad. Different from the Paulson's but still good.
Weight- Too light.
Edgespots- Good. Just wish there were more options.
Rolling edge- Brassy flakes and smooth. Not sure if I like this yet or not.
Inlay- I don't have a micrometer or anything like that but it seems that it is recessed. Correct me here if I am wrong.
Custom inlays- I didn't get one on any of my samples so I don't really have an opinion on this but if someone could reply with their opinion.
On a side note, the roman's and circle/square's I received had a line/stripe going through the inlay. Not sure what that is from.

Blue chip- Haven't received my sample yet

TRKing- Haven't received my sample yet

What are your opinions?

Paulson-nice chips but seem to get to much credit just because of the name.

ASM-nice but a little light as you said

T.R. King-in my opinion the "best" made chip...these things are rock solid

Blue Chip-a little light but have the best edge spots designs hands down. If they continue to produce heavier chips (like the samarui chips) then i have a feeling they might take over some of the market share.

Of course all is a matter of opinion...just play with your samples for a little and your decesion will become much easier.

Re:rolling edge. These look much better when oiled. Try a little of any kind of oil you have around on a sample to see the difference. The type doesn't matter on the sample as long as you don't care about it. For a keeper set, only use mineral oil.

re: recessed inlay. Yes, on the horsehead mold, there is a slight recess which will hold a rippedsheets label very nicely. See Jason's ripped sheets group buy thread under group buys for more info.

The only chip I haven't handled are the TR Kings, but if price were not an option (excluding paulson) I'd probably go to Nevada Jacks for the Nevada mold and go crazy with edge spot colors, custom inlay and try to get a little heavier chip if possible. The Nevada mold just seems so old school and seems right for poker to me.

First off you need to get all of your samples and then play with them for a little bit. You will form your own opinion.

You can't disregard price, just like you can't disregard weight or feel or looks or QC or edge spots etc. Every chip manufacturer has positive and negative features and we all get to decide with our $.

I agree with nanook.....get some samples and try them for yourself.

there are things i like about each and things i dont, but if you want UGLY and EXPENSIVE chips there can be only 1.

Would be good to get a sample of an ASM with a printed inlay, too. No offense to the many chiptalkers that are labelling their ASM chips which look great, but I think the printed inlay makes the ASM chips look gorgeous and very finished/high end.

Yeah, I am going to wait until all of my samples come in and "re-form" my opinions based on all of the chips and YES the cost will be a concern. I was just wanting other people's opinions on all of the chips they have or have handled because I am sure there are some things that they have noticed or know about chips that I am either not aware of or just overlooked.

no offense to the asm chip labelers also...but if your spending say $250 for a set of 500 clays then spending another $75 for labels then the time its gonna take to apply 1000 labels i dont see the point. just get the inlays.
if im spending that kind of cash on chips i dont want stickers...stickers are nice on the faux clays or dice chips..or nexgens.

Course ...wont take 4 months to put stickers on like it will waitin for your custom inlays.
