Long time lurker, from 2+2...*finally* registered.

Always thought "if I register...I will spend all my time here" however, I have a question about budget chips.

I have custom ASM's and Paulson's that I bought many years ago.

However, I need about 1000-1500 chips, and want to do it pretty cheaply. I have worked with Jason on labels before, and I think I might have introduced him to rippedsheets (correct me if I'm wrong, Jason...).

I was looking into Nexgens...but from the reviews I can't tell if there is any difference between the originals and the Bee's.

I like the multi edgespots of the bees, and have some decent ideas...but if they feel crappy I don't want to use them.

Now...I'm not comparing them to my ASM or Paulson's. They are different sets for different games. I need a set for my low limit home games.

The betting is "any part of five" type games. The denoms they use are $1, $2, $5, and $10. Normally they use dice chips. However, they know that I usually have good looking chips. So, I thought the Bee's look nice. (I don't really dig the RPT Nexgen chips.)

So...I know everyone really likes the original Nexgens. Do the Bee's feel similar, or did they skimp on the feel for the different look?

If you go the NEXGEN route, I would recommend the original Las Vegas model. I have 560 of the River Poker Tour variation, which I have been greatly dissapointed in due to the edgespots. The overall look, feel, and colors are not the problem, the seam splits where the edgespots meet the main chip body are. If you look around on this site you will find several other members who report similar problems with the RPT, but I have never seen anyone report this regarding the original Las Vegas ones. I have not directly handled any of the Bee NEXGEN's, but would anticipate they probably exhibit similar flaws.

If you really like the Bee chips, your best bet would be to obtain samples prior to ordering any large quantity. As a matter of fact, this is the best advice I can give you regarding any chip you consider - get samples prior to fully committing.

I have thought about getting a sample order. However, I'm just looking for feedback from someone that has placed a large order of Bee's.

It could just be the luck of the draw that I order a nice sample set...but the large order has inconsistancies.

I have almost ordered the Bee's a few times.

If they rate better than dice slugs and label well, I'm ready to order.

I don't have a large order of the Bee's but I do have some samples and they're pretty the same as the 2nd generation of the Nexgen Vegas and RPT chips. The 2nd generation chips seem to be fractionally thicker than the first generation of chips where they'll have a tight fit in a 2 11/16" chip tray and may require a 2 3/4" tray after the labels have been applied.
All of the Nexgen chips work very well for labels, far better than dice or any other chip that has that little indentation around the center inlay area. The only other plastic chip that works as well is the Texas Hold'em chip which is more comparable to the dice chips for feel.

As for doing it cheap, I went with RPT chips from 5star in 200 chip sets because it netted out to about 13¢ a chip, but they've since changed the price for that set. Right now, for some decent pricing on Nexgens you might want to take a look at http://www.personalpokerchips.com/in...GEN_POKER_SALE . He's got the original Vegas Nexgens for 13¢ apiece. Insofar as inconsistencies, I'm afraid that's a potential risk with any of the Chinese imports; unfortunately the quality control that you may be looking for just isn't there. Just as Wylecoyo mentioned getting seam splits on his RPTs, I didn't, and I think we both may have ordered them around the same time.

I don't know anything about nexgen's but if you want cheap good quality get some faux's. I just picked up 1000 of them. Bought some label's(still labeling and printing them) the cheap plastic box's and am picking up a task force case to carry them all in for $130 for everything. I have zero spinners in 1000 and they sound good and look good(especially labeled) imo.

and as for your issue... i just recently sold my 1000 NexGens Las Vegas type... the originals... and i have to say that they are substancially better than the dice and feel a lot better.

Splits or no splits, the feel of the NEXGEN's is very nice, much nicer than you will find with the everyday variety dice chips. As for my River Poker Tour chips, they are completely playable and the splits do not seem to be getting any worse even after I have had them for about three months. I am just a snobby chip perfectionist and the splits bug the sh*t out of me. They are definately worth the money, I just wanted to let you know some of the POTENTIAL negative aspects of your purchase.

As far as labels go, I think the almost universal opinion is that NEXGEN's are among the very best chips for home labeling.

Let us know what you decide and please post pics to let us know how they turn out.

I have a labelled set of the original Nexgens and they are great. I recently got 2 stacks of bees and of rpt's. The bees feel just like the original nexgens. The rpts, to me, are more rubbery.

I did not notice the separation people have mentioned on the rpts in the bees. For what it is worth, I am ordering 1000 of them and putting labels on them for my tourneys. They really are a nice chip - similar to the old nexgens only with better edge spots.
