I agree, go with a cash game. The blinds stay the same for the whole game so everyone can relax and be more social, and it takes a lot of fiddling with blind schedules before you can predict the end time of a tournament with any accuracy.
Just be sure to visit the bank and bring a wad of smaller bills to make cashing out easier if you are hosting. I did not do this the first time I hosted, and everyone came in with $20 bills they got from the bank machine...kinda tough to make change when everyone has twenties.
