i've definately seen this same sort of crud. i've called it out online and face-to-face.

what stakes were you playing & where?

If what you say is true, your case was pretty obvious. i cant believe that they "needed" to time out in order to decide. what idiots. from what it reads like, 4 sets of eyes were playing 2 hands in play.

my guess $5 or $10 table. partxpoker i really enjoy spotting crud like this early and bustin then in the tourny.

Does anyone know if these people break the law? Would it be cross-state?

Yup. $5+1 S&G on Poker Stars,27 players.
yeah I had to bust them because of thier lag time. Freakin Amatures. Im just even more sour 'cause they were doing it at such a low stakes game, they werent even good at it, and they cracked me off.
Heres the names of the cheaters that were involved:
john melder
doncucci
mikebasset
ragindemon

Gambling on-line isn't quite legal and Pokerstars is based out of Costa Rica, so I think you'd be SOL. I know pokerstars will do anything to keep the money rolling in, so if someone is cheating and causing others to stop playing they'd probably do something if you emailed support and told them the tourney and the names, they can check the action and do what they can. Although the guys can probably just get new accounts...

Online collusion is well documented. The ring games are where is occurs most often because it is easier for the cheats to be seated at the same table. Most online sites know it exists and for the most part don't care. The only thing they are interested in is maximizing the rake.

In your case with a three-table sin & go, it is more difficult. It looks like the cheaters had a cheating pack all entered in the same tourney. I play mostly three-table sit & go's on Stars because even if there are cheaters in the tourney, it will be difficult for them to get two or more of their pack on the final table. But when it happens, especially when you are down to two of them vs. you, you are screwed unless you get hit with the deck.

That being said, I avoid ring cash games and one-table sit & go's. Sometimes I play two-table, but mostly three-table. Cheating at the lower limits like your $5 sit & go is usually kids. Cheating at the higher limits, especially the ring games, will tend to be professional cheats. In this case, you will have little chance.

Good luck!

My wife & I can't be seated at the same ring game. Somehow the software knows.

We certainly weren't going to collude. She'd love nothing better than to kick my a** and bust me out! When we're in the same room playing a big tournament, if we happen to get seated at the same table, she turns her laptop around so I can't see anything.

Collusion is a form of cheating in which two or more players signal their holdings or otherwise form a cheating partnership to the detriment of the other players at the same table.

While on one hand it is easier to pass information between colluding players in online poker than it is in brick & mortar rooms, it is much more difficult to avoid eventual detection as the cards for all players can be examined after the play.

No matter how sophisticated the collusion is, it must involve a play of a hand that would not be played that way without collusion. Our detection methods will catch unusual play patterns and warn the security personnel, who will then make a thorough manual investigation. We will also investigate all players' reports about suspected collusion.

If any player is found to be participating in any form of collusion his or her account may be permanently closed.
they take it very seriously... they would be stupid not to do so...

Email support about it and if they find proof, they will ban them. I have heard of a few cases where the site did take action and ban players. The we report such cheaters, the better it will be.

Also the more the site and names of cheaters are made public, the better too. That is why I ask what site and who. If sites are aware that we are concern, they will take more action.
