this one doesn't look so bad when you see the flop. but it sure looked bad before the flop. you will notice, however, that i had 7500 chips at the time. so my situation was unfoldable to JM's raise.

this might be the first really bad play i made. however, once again, i had an ass-load of chips to splash around with. also, philly is relatively tight, but i saw him weild a short stack like a bludgeon last week, and knew that he was capable of making this play with all sorts of stuff. whatever, i got terribly lucky...

so, okay, i sucked out thrice. i did what i was s'posed to do as the big stack; bully the hell out of everyone. it didn't hurt that i got varoadstter off my right after quite a while. the only hand all night i'm actually ashamed of is the one that lost me the event (see below). pokerdwarf had just hit a 5 outer on the river to double up and snatch away my victory (see below below). the very next hand i gave him 21k more. lesson, kids; when steamed, just go ahead and fold the next hand. don't get yourself broke b/c you're unhappy about a beat. here's my big steaming turd of a hand. i really kinda believed that he might lay down on the end.

see you all on sunday. single table events are kinda my specialty. however, i play the low level, superfishy 10s and 20s. i suspect this might be slightly different.

In looking back at the hand where you took me out, why does the runner-runner straight seem worse than if you had just picke up an ace?

Damn you JoJo!!!

I was just starting to get on a roll - I think I was down to about 600 chips at one point and had worked my way up to about 5th in chips. I was teetering on not tangling with the overwhelming chip leader but I had a PREMIUM hand and was trying to win this thing. I was almost hoping my all-in would get fold from you and I would get the T1100 in the pot already and move up a few slots. I didn't wanna see you flip an A and catch a card.

When I hit the third K I was excited - but of course, since Poker Stars is rigged I quickly noticed you had an out - a 10. As soon as I thought about it - it hit.

Great job and congrats on sliding into the qTOC. Good luck.

Jojo - I had to get in one big suck out in there sooner or later. You had me dead to rights on that hand. I was hoping you were bluffing on that hand and my pair of 7s would have been good. Well, turns out you weren't bluffing. RiverStars bailed me out once again. You deserved it but the river card tooketh away.

Follow-up: Since I had just a 87o from the get go, if you would have re-raised me pre-flop I may have tossed the hand away right there. Since you just called, I did not put you on an Ace. Your hand was well disguised for sure.

I had made a similar move earlier on in the tourney. I had a hand with pocket 3's and the flop came up scary - something like KK6. Both me and my opponent checked on the flop. I checked on the turn when another rag hit the board and my opponent bets big to force me into an all-in call. I thought for a minute and called thinking that it was a bluff - and it was. My 3's held up for a big win that helped move me into the top 9.

The very 1st hand of the tournament I flopped two pair and bet in big. One guy took me to the showdown only to show quad 5s. I was in LAST place in the tournament after the 1st hand. I was damn lucky to come back and win anything, let alone the whole thing.

Yup, I was pretty excited getting all my chips in against the chip leader with big slick suited vs his KQ of a different suit (clubs). The euphoria was brief when I saw the K flopped with 2 bricks in clubs. I just knew a club was coming next. No complaints about how you played that one, you'd have been a fool not to call after I reraised.

That first hand you posted though I think you overplayed a bit after the flop though. Didn't seem like a real good call with no pair and no real draw and only 1 overcard when you've only got 400 in the pot and the other guy goes all in ahead of you with almost 900 more. Pretty good bet he's got a Q imo. Gotta admit you were drawmonkey on that one!

Good luck on Sunday, should be quite a game.

sure. that was a bad call. i needed 1st or second though, and was looking to build a big stack.

well, that doesn't really rationalize it. it was just a bad call.

Lol, yeah but it worked so I guess it wasn't THAT bad a call. Depends upon your p.o.v. though

I wasn't really watching all that close and had to do a wtf? as the 5 hit... booyaa. You definitely caught some nice cards and took off straight to the top early. Nice play in the big stack.

Seemed a few luckboxes were on high... I thought for sure Imthatguy was going to place ITM after getting SS and hangin' by a thread as his bad luck which turned to good luck unfortunately turned bad again

Felt like I had very few premium hands, KK's once with no action , 8's near the end which I probably should of pushed and then I was actually excited to see FINS! in the BB & severly short and facing a min raise but my 5's ran into a couple of mean ol' ladies. Had fun and I'll be tinkering with my luckbox for the next one!

Unbelivable how many quads there were in that one last nite. There was a quad 5s, someone else had quad 10s, I had quad 10s. Any others? Seems like an inordinate amount.
