New Quick and easy clay chip cleaning method!
I've read various cleaning methods and I don't recall anyone trying this....I appologize if I missed someone elses post that have tried this...
This is the new way I have figured out how to clean clay chips. Specifically I just got a set of Paulson Crystal Parks. Well the $5 chips is a bright yellow with black/brown edge spots. The chips needed a cleaning badly. I tried a few types of soap but hesitated using harsher cleaners like soft scrub.
I recalled I had a few Mr Clean Magic Erasers under the sink. Grabbed one...got it a little wet....and I could see results after about 3 scrubs. You have to press pretty hard, but most all the dirt and oil came off. The Magic Erasers sort of fall apart as you use it and it gets dirty. I was able to clean over 500 chips with 4 Erasers. Took about 3-4 hours. The Erasers also leave behind a white residue also. Just rinse them with water to eliminate this. And reapply oil after they have dried.
I was amazed at the results. And the Erasers are very gentle on the chips. No worries about color loss from bleach or harsh chemicals.
I also had a few old paulson chips from the 70's...one was hot pink and one was white. These chips now look new.
So there you go....awesome cleaning method that is fast and relatively cheap. My hands were pretty soar the next day....but it was worth it.
Let me know if you also try this and your reactions!
