OK... I understood that it's working the way it was designed.. I just thought in this case it was a design flaw

It seemed that most of the emoticons used ":" as the first character, so I hadn't hit one by accident until today.
Is there some way to get the text I wanted, other than adding an extra space, like
(straight 4 5 6 7 8 )
??
(other than disabling Smilies for the entire post, I mean)
