| Yeah, I think you've got the right idea -- 3 denoms are plenty (maybe 4 for higher color-ups). I know some people disagree with this, but that's my experience.
Whenever I see a denom chip that is only twice the previous chip, I think it's a waste. For example, 50¢ when you have a 25¢ chip, or $10 vs. $5, and $50 vs. $25. I'd rather get more chips of fewer denominations and have a more flexible set. I prefer chips that are 4x or 5x the previous chips -- like $1, $5, $25, $100. Or 25¢, $1, $5, $25. (OK, there's probably an exception where you play a specific game, like 10/20 or 3/6. In those cases you should have a $10 chip or a $3 chip.) |
