Help making a Chip set.

Ok , I am glad I stumbled onto this web page and I have a question for you . We have a 10 man poker game about 3 times a month where we by in for 20 bucks each and get 20 bucks worth of chips. I have cheap dice chips with no denominations so its easy to just assign values and hand them out. What I want to do is upgrade my chips to one of the clay sets discussed here on the boards but they all have denominations pre set on the chips. I was wondering if someone could recommend a chip setup that would work for me with a small 10 man tournament.

The set up we are using now is. 1 back $5- 7 green $1 – 10 red $0.50 – 8 blue $0.25 – 10 white $0.10
Blinds start at 10-20 and double on the half hour.

I would also use this set for small cash games (under 8 people).

Thanks for any advice. …

Hey Bill

My suggestion is not to use denoms on the chips, that way you can make the chips worth what ever you like: as in low for cash games and high for tourney's.

Check out this site: http://www.homepokertourney.com/tables_build.htm

it has a great deal of information that will help you out.

if you go non-denom and aren't married to clay, i recommend the chipco suits at holdempokerchips.com

otherwise, the pharaoh's are the best deal for high quality clays.

I would use a more normal blind schedule (blinds that double are weird) and start with .25/.25. homepokertourney.com is a good place to learn about blinds, I like texstears.com system. You can check out TournamentDirector for some tournament control software. I personally use pokerino at home because it's simple and runs on my mac laptop. I'm pissed at Dr.Neau and his Tournament Manager because he wants a subscription to use it but it's good software.

Here's a good starting stack:
20 @ .25 = $5
15 @ $1 = $15

Minimum chipset for this setup:
200 @ .25
200 @ $1 (the other 5 each player will color up the .25's perfectly)
40 @ $5 (this will color up all of the $1)

So... to fill a 500 chipset we need 60 more. My preference would be 40 more $1 and 20 more $5:

200 @ $0.25
240 @ $1
60 @ $5
