Chips: 52.8 Bank: 0.0 Total Chips: 52.8 | | | Hello, new to the group
I just wanted to say hello to everyone and comment that it's nice to finally find some people who are more obsessed with chips than I am!
The only other Poker newsgroup I've read with any regularity is rec.gambling.poker, and the chip discussions over there are very weak. (To further support that point, I posted some information and a link about the Paulson Egyptian group buy on March 30, and not a single person has responded to it) A lot of people there are perfectly content with the plastic chips with the metal slug in the middle, and I was beginning to think I was one of the few who actually cared about owning high quality chips.
Now I feel right at home, and am learning quite a bit from the discussion here. I currently own a non-denom set of 450 chips from http://thepokerchipcompany.com/ , but will be selling those soon in favor of a new Paulson Egyptian set.
Glad to be aboard!
Jon

Which style of chips did you get from the Poker Chip Company? And how are they? Maybe you could post a review on them--I think they are underrepresented here and on the TH-P forum. I was seriously considering getting a set of personalized style 1003, but then decided to go with the TH-P Paulson group buy instead.

You'll be happy to know that your chips fared well in the BAKE-OFF.

I'd be careful though, posting on this site is just like getting a tattoo. Once you do one you just gotta get another.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that they sort of have a rubbery feel to them, and I'd say that's a pretty good description. They are definitely smooth, without any texture. They've been good for the last year for my home games and tournaments, but it's time to step to the next level. I think that, all things considered, you'll be happy you went with the Paulson buy. I have a sample of the James Bonds, and they are superior in every way to the 1003's. Quote: |

Clay or ceramic? | Clay all the way, I don't like the feel of ceramics. Quote: |

Our home games have been very low stakes, and we wind up using the standard Casino colors divided by 10. So red is a nickel, green a quarter, black a dollar. I like the flexibility of making a color the value that's right for a particular game. Quote: |
