900 NJ Sands breakdown

I have not ordered them yet but hopefully by next Friday I will. In the meantime I like to make myself crazy thinking about it. Any suggestions on the chip breakdown. They will be used mainly for cash games $.50/$1 NLHE and small tournaments. Here is what I'm thinking.

100--$.50
250--$1
250--$5
150--$25
100--$100
50---$500

The tournament breakdown would be based on 10 player max starting T1000--- 25--$5, 15--$25, 5--$100

Questions, comments, concerns......

I ordered a set a couple of days ago. I mainly play tourneys, very similar to yours. T1000, but my starting chips are 20-$5, 16-$25 and 5-$5. I figured that for 10 players, I needed 200, 160 and 50, respectively. But I wanted to allow enough to color-up easily so I made sure that I had another 40 of the $25 chip (200 X $5 = 1000/25 = 40) and another 50 of the $100 chip (200 X $25 = 5000/100 = 50). I figured rebuys coould be made out of additional $100 chips, so I added another 100 for total of 200. In my tournaments we don't seem to need to color up the $100 chips so I figured 100 of the $500 and 50 of the $1000. While we don't play any cash games, I tried to allow for that in the future and got the balance (140 chips) in $1. That doesn't do any good for $.50/$1 games but I figured we could make do for a $1/$2 or $3/$5 game. So, my final breakdown was:

$1 - 140
$5 - 205 (5 extra to cover any lost chips)
$25 - 205 (5 exra)
$100 - 200
$500 - 100
$1000 - 50

I ordered them Thursday night, and they should be here Wednesday. Good luck wit your order!

If you're only going to use the .50's as the small blind you probably don't need 10 each, I'd say you could get by with 50 of them and just make some change. The .50 chips are worthless to you except for SB in this case. I would buy more $1 and fewer $5 chips for your cash game. If you plan on ever doing rebuys in your tournament some more $100 chips would come in handy.

I came up with this breakdown last week:

Cash:
$.25- 100
$1 - 200
$5 - 80
$625 face value... I would do 50@.50 and 250@1 if I didn't want quarters.

Tournament:
$25 - 290
$100 - 170
$500 - 40
$1000 - 20

That tournament breakdown allows 24 people with $1500 starting stacks (12@25, 7@100, 1@500). A 10 person rebuy tournament should be ok with this too, I haven't done any calculation about how many people will rebuy how many times but I imagine at least 4 wouldn't rebuy at all.

omar's tournament breakdown advice looks good... as far as his dilemma for a "change" chip for a .50/1 game or whatever, you could always just buy some cheap chips to use for quarters, they don't HAVE to match. I personally don't like buying chips that have a face value less than what I paid for them. You'll probably get sick of carrying around three small cases anyway and if you had a 1000 chip case you could just "tack on" 100 quarters/50 cent peices later.

Good point in the 1000 chip case. Makes me think I should go ahead and buy 100 $.50 chips....wouldn't want any empty sapce in the case!
