forum database is really big. any experts here?

The site is working, but the database is still running from lightningsolutions.net, where I first had this site set up before I got the chiptalk.net domain.

Somehow, it still works. I want to get it moved over the chiptalk.net. To do this, I have to back it up from lightningsolutions.net and restore it on chiptalk.net. both domains are hosted at netfirms.com (probably why the database link is still working.)

the crux: when I try to backup the database, it always fails. it'll download different lengths, anything from 120k to 6mb. usually about 4mb before stopping. I try via the phpbb admin panel and by phpMyAdmin, same failures.

the best one I got was 6.21 MB. I chopped it up then started a resstore but I didn't look at the end of the file so I didnt notice it had failed too. I had an error at the end that said "SQL Error : 2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query"

6MB? It seems way too big for this little site that's been up for one week. Is that too big for like 1600 posts?

1600 posts ? 6Mb ? Yeah I think it's a bit big.

I run a little forum myself, hand made, and the database contains around 2300 entries, and it weights 1.6mb

Don't you have a way to browse your database ? Like phpmyadmin ?

The best way to do that would be exporting the db to a .sql file, and import it in the new server. I've been doing this a couple of times for my site it always went well.
