In my test prints on an inkjet printer, if I had a colored background, the bottom rows would have a sliver of unprinted area in the bottom of the label. I'm guessing the commercial guys who do this all the time have the trial and error experience and better software to get their efforts perfect.
Great first post and welcome to the forum. Printing is always an issue and the design needs to account for the slight off centering that can't be avoided (even w/ the pro's). In regards to the unprinted area the design should also incoporate a fair amount of bleed... i.e. the graphic background is significantly larger than the label such that unprinted areas do not occur.
Nice simple design.
I have some family up your way in Keene & Spofford and for a time in Dublin.
